We have to keep telling ourselves the top guys were/are the top guys for a reason. Unless there was an injury (Tyreek Hill), you have to stick with your studs and only adjust for the Week 1 craziness so much. Sammy Watkins is now the top wide receiver for the best QB in football, so, yes, he moves way up, and it’s tough to ignore Jamison Crowder’s heavy usage, so he also moves up considerably in his seemingly favorable matchup against Cleveland. Week 1 breakouts like Hollywood Brown and John Ross, among others, are a little tougher to assess. While they certainly merit WR3 consideration, you can’t simply expect a repeat of Week 1. It’s likely both just had their best games of the season, so disappointment is bound to follow if you get too excited.
WEEK 2 NON-PPR RANKINGS:Quarterback | Running back | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
As always, target share is important (Crowder, Ross, Danny Amendola), as is what we saw in terms of separation and run-after-the-catch ability (Terry McLaurin, Michael Gallup). Some situations remain confusing (Washington, Seattle), while others are about to get a whole lot more interesting (New England, Kansas City). Either way, expect to see the exact opposite of what happened in Week 1 happen in Week 2 for a few of last week’s breakouts, and expect to see a return to normalcy for some preseason top-25 WRs.
