This week, there are a couple of major byes at the kicker position, as Matt Prater (Lions) and Wil Lutz (Saints) are off. Both are popular plays in fantasy – Prater for his leg, Lutz for his opportunities, both because they play indoors – so replacing them this week will be critical. Of course, don’t make the mistake of keeping two kickers on your roster at any point (with a possible exception for Justin Tucker). They are too replaceable to waste a precious roster spot on a bye-week filler. Just drop your starting kicker and hope you might be able to get him back.

Perhaps a worried owner dropped Adam Vinatieri after word of his injury surfaced last week. Or maybe, the perennially underrated Robbie Gould is available. Either way, don’t put too much time or effort into this position. It truly is impossible to predict what will happen week-in and week-out at kicker.
Note: We’ll update our rankings throughout the week if weather or injuries figure to be major factors. Also, check out How You’ll Lose in Week 6 and our Week 6 preview podcast.
