Once again, we’re picking on the rookie QBs/backups at the top of our rankings (except Baker Mayfield, as the Bucs simply don’t inspire in any way). That doesn’t always work out (ask the Colts against Sam Darnold last week), but the percentages are higher for a disaster game in these situations. One thing to note: All but the Bills are playing at home, so perhaps the rookies/backups will fare a little better than usual. The toughest calls are the Bears (vs. Patriots) and Jaguars (vs. Texans). We like the fact both games are at home for the defenses, and the Jags, even after a complete letdown vs. Dallas, get the benefit of playing a team with a banged-up QB that can’t really block. The Bears are also coming off a letdown (against Brock Osweiler, no less), but we think they’ve built up enough good will to merit starting (but just barely).

Week 7 Rankings:Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | Kicker

Every week there are surprises at this position, and sometimes talent simply wins out. However, we’re getting more and more matchup information, and that data usually doesn’t lie. We’re still skeptical the Vikings are really a favorable matchup for fantasy D/STs, but as long as they keep making mistakes on offense, it’s tough to ignore. The same goes for the Eagles. How much do the Nick Foles games skew their overall numbers? We try to split the difference, but if both offenses turn it over and allow sacks for another week, we’ll need to reassess.

Note: We’ll update our rankings and add analysis during the week, so check back often for the latest player movement and news!
