Our top 10 is full of favorable matchups for quarterbacks. Tom Brady travels to the Meadowlands to play the Jets on Monday Night Football – and yeah, the Jets made Dak Prescott look rough, but Brady is much better than him and should have a field day like he did against the Jets earlier this season. Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson should have a shootout against each other. Josh Allen should light up the Dolphins, Aaron Rodgers should rekindle his prime against the Raiders, and Kyler Murray should compile a ton of numbers against the Giants. Sure, most of these guys you’d start anyway, but maybe a guy like Allen is just your backup, and matchups have shown us time and again this season how much they matter for QBs.

That’s why after two big weeks, Kirk Cousins is out of our starting tier. You might look at Detroit and say, “That’s not a bad matchup.” True, but it’s not the Giants or Eagles, either. Sam Darnold looked great against Dallas in his return from mono, but it gets a lot harder with the Patriots on tap, and he’s a guy to wait a week on before considering starting him again.

We’re also left wondering what to make of Gardner Minshew. After a big Week 5, he disappointed with his first subpar NFL outing in Week 6. A matchup with the Bengals in Week 7 looks like a prime bounce-back opportunity, but we’re a lot less confident in that after his struggles Sunday.
