As well as customizing Arthur’s weapons, outfit, horses and camp, it’s also possible for players to have some fun with the protagonist’s hairstyle. This could be something as simple as applying some pomade to tidy up some of his wilder strands or adjusting his parting just to change things up a little. Those looking for something a little more permanent can even opt to get his hair cut. Just like everybody else though, Arthur is not immune to the occasional bad hair day, as one player recently discovered.

While playing through Red Dead Redemption 2’s fourth chapter, Redditor B3RDB0Y noticed something a little strange about Arthur’s once-handsome head of hair. Rather than their chosen hairstyle, they were instead treated to a crew cut with three distinct lines separating the contours of Arthur’s scalp. As other Redditors pointed out in the comments section, these seem to correspond to the game’s numerous options for partings, suggesting that the glitch may be revealing the base model for Arthur’s scalp due to the hair on top failing to load in.

How exactly the glitch came about is a little unclear, although the Reddit thread does have one or two ideas. The glitch apparently occurred immediately after B3RDB0Y reapplied Arthur’s pomade, with another Redditor claiming to have experienced something similar shortlyl after they got Arthur’s hair cut. Whatever the cause may be, it seems that Arthur will be needing quite a few bottles of hair tonic to undo the damage if the new cut proves to be permanent. In all likelihood though, it’s likely only temporary.

Visual glitches such as these are fairly common in Red Dead Redemption 2, with players stumbling across new ones all the time. Just last week, one player discovered that reviving a horse after it has been set on fire can lead to its burns and scars remaining visible for a short period of time. This came not long after another player found that playing Red Dead Redemption 2 with low graphical settings can lead to NPCs’ eyes bulging out of their heads. Given that none of these glitches even come close to being game-breaking though, fixing them is perhaps unlikely to be too high up on Rockstar’s to-do list.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
