However, the game has a few tricks up its sleeve. Any actions the player makes are permanent, meaning that any mistakes can’t be undone by respawning or the like. There’s even a permadeath mode that’ll really rank up the challenge. With that in mind, it’s best to know which abilities will help out each class the best.

Bounty Hunter

By collecting Nimp Relics hidden in the level, each character can boost their Abilities. They can be used to upgrade Weapon Abilities, but each class has unique abilities exclusive to them. For example, Jane Bell the Bounty Hunter is a cowgirl who can plant traps and knock her foes back with a hard roundhouse kick.

However, her best skill has to be the Charm. It’ll turn any enemies around her into allies for a little while. It doesn’t last very long, yet it’s good at keeping the heat off the player’s back. Then they can regain their bearings or make an escape while they have an opening.

Protector

If the Bounty Hunter represents the typical gunslinger, then the Protector is the Native American. Across Rivers is a hunter who plays more like a combination of a rogue and a mage, as they can summon elemental magic attacks and sneak quietly past hordes with their abilities.

They have a great list of abilities, like the Western Wind that can really rack up the damage when it’s combined with fire or poison. In addition to this, Cousin Bear makes Rivers summon a ghost bear that’ll serve as his ally for 15 seconds. It dishes out a good deal of damage and can distract any errant enemies. The only drawback is that its AI is rather spotty.

Oneirist

Constance, a witch from the Oneirist Coven, has a host of spooky magic spells to help her get ahead. She can teleport while stunning any surrounding enemies, summon her own clone while turning invisible, and produce lightning wisps. Though her offensive capabilities aren’t as strong as the similarly skilled Protector.

However, her Spirit Ward makes up for her drawbacks. It forms a force field in front of her that absorbs any hits and converts them into health. So, if she’s in the right spot from a horde of foes, she could summon her Ward and regain any lost health rather quickly. It only lasts eight seconds per use, though that might be more than enough time to regain a significant chunk before getting away.

Devotee

Desidérío Ríos is part of a religious order that seeks to clean the West of supernatural entities. This is rather ironic, as a prophecy foretells that he’ll become the head of a whole army of werewolves if the player chooses to follow a certain route. By default, Rios is just an ordinary guy, but he can go into Werewolf Mode for 15 seconds at a time.

The rest of his abilities are more supportive, like Inun’s Strength granting him and any allies extra armor, or Yeb’s Invisibility granting them invisibility too. The handiest offensive skill is Yeb’s Fire, which produces a ring of fire that swirls around him for eight seconds. It really helps rack up the damage when combined with melee attacks and close-up encounters.

Pigman

The Pigman is one of a group of people cursed by an evil witch and is the only one who can still talk. He travels the land to try and rediscover who he was before he was transformed and why he was cursed. They complete the party as its tank: able to withstand heavy amounts of damage while dishing it out.

Rubber Skin will cause any bullets to ricochet off of him, while Unstoppable Charge makes him barrel into any foes to stun them hard. When he’s surrounded though, the best skill to use is Shockwave. He’ll pound the ground and stun anything within his blast radius. When all else fails, one can’t go wrong with an area-of-effect attack.
